As of May 29, 2021, the Archbishop is lifting the Covid 19 protocols, as a requirement and wants individual pastors to determine a policy for their respective parishes. Per the Archbishop, the obligation to attend Mass on Saturday or Sunday will resume the last weekend of May, 2021. The Archbishop writes: “Anyone unable to physically come to church, or whose health would be endangered by attendance at Mass, or anyone caring for someone whose health would be endangered, does not need to attend Mass.” Hand sanitizer will still be available by the doors of the church. The pews in the church will still be marked off. Physical distancing is still recommended. Masks will be encouraged in enclosed spaces, such as the church. The Sign of Peace will still be omitted. Holy Communion may be received either in the hand or on the tongue. With the obligation to attend Mass, the chalice will be offered to those who wish to communicate under that form. Those who assist with the chalice will need to sanitize their hands immediately prior to the distribution of Communion and they will need to wear masks during the distribution.
